Sale & Purchase Agreement signed between Terengganu State Government, Lembaga Tabung Amanah Warisan Negeri Terengganu and Pelaburan Hartanah Berhad on the acquisition of a prime commercial land in Kuala Terengganu

Kuala Lumpur, August 24, 2015 – Pelaburan Hartanah Berhad (PHB), a real estate investment holding company and wholly owned subsidiary of Yayasan Amanah Hartanah Bumiputera (YAHB) has entered into a Sale and Purchase Agreement with the State Government of Terengganu and Lembaga Tabung Amanah Warisan Negeri Terengganu (LTAWNT), a Terengganu State Government agency, to acquire a parcel of commercial land in the capital city of Terengganu, at a signing ceremony today.

The Sale and Purchase Agreement (SPA) was signed by PHB’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Yang Berbahagia Datuk Kamalul Arifin Othman and Yang Berhormat Dato’ Wan Nawawi bin Haji Wan Ismail, Financial Officer of the State of Terengganu, representing Lembaga Tabung Amanah Warisan Negeri Terengganu. Yang Berhormat Dato’ Haji Osman bin Muda, State Secretary of Terengganu was the signatory for the Terengganu State Government. The Chief Minister of Terengganu, Yang Amat Berhormat Dato’ Seri Haji Ahmad Razif bin Abd. Rahman, graced the event and witnessed the signing of the agreement in support of Pelaburan Hartanah Berhad’s latest accomplishment.

Commenting on the occasion, Yang Amat Berhormat Dato’ Seri Haji Ahmad Razif bin Abd. Rahman said that he was pleased with PHB’s collaboration with a state government agency on bringing new wave of development in the state. He added that the expertise and experience derived through this acquisition will be mutually beneficial with an aim at establishing the state of Terengganu as the new economic hub of the East Coast with proper planning, infrastructure, development and attractions.

With the agreement signed, the signatories acknowledged that the Terengganu State Government will alienate the land to PHB, approved for a mixed commercial development. PHB has proposed to develop the site into a mixed integrated commercial development.

The approximately 10.8 acres site is strategically located within the heart of Terengganu’s administrative and commercial hub, bordering another project known as Kuala Terengganu City Centre (KTCC), making it a viable property investment. Furthermore, the onset of a drawbridge and East Coast Highway (LPT2), constructed under the East Coast Economic Region Development Council (ECERDC) development project, would improve connectivity of the site to commercial hubs within and outside Terengganu, thus adding to its attractiveness.

In his opening remark at the signing ceremony, Yang Berbahagia Datuk Kamalul Arifin Othman – Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of PHB said, “The acquisition of the land site in Terengganu marks yet another milestone in our journey. Ever since our inception in 2006, PHB has diligently focused its efforts to boost Bumiputera ownership in commercial real estates in Malaysia. This year, after marking our presence in Klang Valley and South of Peninsular Malaysia, Pelaburan Hartanah Berhad’s participation in the development of Terengganu is a strategy to strengthen our footing in commercial hubs across the country. We truly believe that this acquisition will be an important milestone to further create valuable asset resulting in progress of our company and stable rental income that benefit for our Amanah Hartanah Bumiputera (AHB) investors”.
