Kuala Lumpur, 7th October 2019 - Pelaburan Hartanah Berhad (PHB) and Maybank Asset Management Sdn. Bhd. Earlier in April 2019, PHB and MAM had announced AHB interim income distribution of 2.75 sen a unit with a bonus distribution of 0.25 sen a unit for the six-month period ended 31 March 2019. This brings the total income distribution to 5.60 sen a unit, or a total distribution of RM200.9 million for the 12-month period ended 30 September 2019.

“The final income distribution is in line with the current market as AHB is essentially a savings product. In fact, it provides a competitive return compared to most other savings products and its underlying assets of prime commercial buildings generate a relatively stable and more predictable income streams. AHB income is also distributed net of zakat. Since 2011, AHB has distributed a total cumulative income of approximately RM1.23 billion to its unit holders”, said PHB Group Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer Dato’ Mahmud Fauzi Muda.

He added, “PHB now owns over eight million square feet of commercial buildings which are collectively valued at well over RM6 billion. Moving forward, PHB will continue with our commitment in enhancing value to unit holders and making AHB the preferred scheme for savers, especially for those with low risk tolerance who would like to benefit from long term ownership in prime commercial real estates in the country”.

The final income distribution of AHB is tax exempted and payable net of zakat, which will be credited directly into the unit holder’s bank account on 10th October 2019. For Employees Provident Fund (EPF) Member’s Investment Scheme, it will be credited into Account 1 of EPF.

AHB is a fixed-price shariah-compliant real estate backed unit trust fund. The minimum entry investment for individual investors is RM100. The Fund is designed to cater for investors looking for a platform that generates regular income and potentially consistent returns similar to saving opportunities.

AMANAH HARTANAH BUMIPUTERA (AHB) “SIMPAN, LABUR & MENANG” WINNERS ANNOUNCED

KUALA LUMPUR, 11 JULY 2019 - Pelaburan Hartanah Berhad (PHB) and Maybank Asset Management Sdn Bhd (MAM) today announced the winners of its “Simpan, Labur dan Menang” campaign. Launched on 15th August 2018, the campaign aimed at promoting and increasing investments in Amanah Hartanah Bumiputera (AHB) – the country’s first shariah-compliant real estate-backed unit trust fund in Malaysia.

The fund, which made its debut in 2010, is primarily aimed at providing more opportunities for Bumiputeras to partake in the beneficial ownerships of key commercial properties through their unit holdings in AHB.

With “Simpan, Labur dan Menang”, AHB unit holders with a minimum balance of 1,000 units in the account maintained for a period of six months, beginning 1 October 2018 until 31 March 2019, were automatically enrolled to participate for one random draw.

Unitholders were entitled to 1 entry for every 1,000 units maintained throughout the period. All entries were calculated based on the average minimum monthly balance for six months. New unit holders were also qualified to participate in the Draw provided their accounts were opened before 1 October 2018. Shortlisted participants were contacted by the Draw Manager to answer one skill-based question to complete the draw, and those with the right answers declared the winners.

The first prize of 200,000 AHB units went to Professor Dato Mohd Fadzil Abdul Rahman from Sarawak. The second prize of 100,000 AHB units went to Noor Suzara Embong from Terengganu while the third place winner Mohammad Amirul Aiman Azman from Johor, a holder of Akaun Remaja went home with 50,000 AHB units.

Group Managing Director of PHB, Dato’ Mahmud Fauzi Muda who presented the prizes congratulated the winners – praising their commitment to investing and financial planning. “We hope that this has been a rewarding experience for you, and hope that this will serve as an inspiration for other Bumiputera investors and Bumiputera parents to start early, in saving for their children,” he said.

AHB, he added, is unique in that it gives unit holders an opportunity to invest in high value prime real estate without a large capital overlay from individual investors.

“AHB should be a preferred scheme for Bumiputera investors as it promotes shariah-compliant investments. AHB should also be a preferred scheme for Bumiputera investors as it is an important ‘Affirmative Action track’ to raise Bumiputera ownership in commercial real estate in the country,” added Dato’ Fauzi.

He added that despite the challenges in property market in Malaysia over the past few years, recent demand for AHB units has been very encouraging. The fund, he disclosed has also paid out approximately RM1.14 billion in dividends to its Bumiputera investors over the last eight years. It has managed to keep the annual dividends reasonably constant within the range of 5.8% to 7.5% per annum, net of zakat, he added

“I am also happy to report that since the launch of the AHB scheme in November 2010, PHB has made a constant and significant progress. PHB now owns over 8 million sq ft of commercial property assets. We have 22 buildings all over Malaysia, made up by a diverse range of asset classes comprising office buildings, specialist hospitals, shopping malls and logistics warehouse.” As at to date, we have a total asset worth at approximately RM10.3 billion, said Dato’ Fauzi

Dato’ Fauzi added, “Even though the percentage of commercial properties which are held by PHB and AHB is still small relative to the total market, I can safely say that the fund has established a reasonably good investment model so far. AHB has the potential to grow much bigger and make a bigger impact in the future.”
